Tuesday, July 10, 2012
6:19 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street, a traffic bureau officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration as found to be expired, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
6:50 p.m.: Long Pond Road, a caller reports seeing smoke in the area of the boat ramp, the responding firefighters report a man found with a cooking fire who said he would extinguish the fire as soon as he finished cooking;
7:10 p.m.: arrest, Elm Street, a caller reports he has seen a known man he believes to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, the responding officer reports the warrant was confirmed, the officer reports the suspect was found near the bus stop on Main Street, Shawn Buffum, 26, of 83 Main St., was arrested on the warrant;
8:18 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Lloyds Hill at Western Avenue, a patrol supervisor reports he observed a vehicle enter Court Street and operate erratically swerving across the center line repeatedly, the vehicle was stopped near Lloyds Hill and symptoms of alcohol intoxication were observed, the operator failed a field sobriety test, Arnold S. Graziano, 46, of 63 Russell Stage Road, Blandford, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor (a second offense), negligent operation of a motor vehicle and for a marked lanes violation;
9:12 p.m.: breaking and entering, Laflin Street, a detective reports he was advised that a vehicle had been broken into, the detective reports that the victim said that the vehicle was parked about 9 p.m. on Monday and about 10 a.m. Tuesday the victim found that her unlocked vehicle parked in her driveway had been entered and a purse and a wallet had been stolen;
11:28 p.m.: noise complaint, Pochassic Street, a caller reports a loud party the responding officer reports he observed through an open door that youths were drinking alcohol, the officer reports the resident was cooperative and about 20 persons were picked up by parents or family members, two female parties were provided a courtesy transport to the station to await family members who could not arrive immediately, the officer spoke by phone with the resident’s mother who said she will address the issue with her son when she returns to the city;

1:19 a.m.: breaking and entering, Pleasant Street, a caller reports that he heard glass breaking and investigated to find a neighbor’s window had been broken, the responding officer reports the caller pointed out the broken window and he entered but found nobody in the apartment, the tenant could not immediately be contacted but the officer reports that he does not believe entry was gained;
3:04 a.m.: breaking and entering, Birch Bluff Drive, a caller reports two vehicle were broken into, the responding officer reports the caller said that two unlocked vehicles were entered and loose coin, a wallet and an iPhone were stolen;
8:51 a.m.: larceny, Lapoint Road, a caller reports copper was stolen overnight, the responding officer reports the caller said that eight sheets of copper roofing material valued at $2,000 were stolen from his yard overnight;
9:15 a.m.: larceny, Union St., a caller reports her city-owned trash receptacle was stolen overnight, the woman was advised to contact the DPW for a replacement;
11:22 a.m.: breaking and entering, Valley View Drive, a caller reports her vehicle was broken into overnight and her wallet was stolen, the responding officer reports the woman said that her unlocked vehicle had been parked in her driveway when it was entered and the wallet was stolen;
2:29 p.m.: vandalism, Crown Street, a caller reports vandalism overnight, the responding officer reports the caller said that a plastic chair at a convenience store was broken overnight and identified a suspect, the officer reports he spoke with the man who acknowledged breaking the chair during an argument and agreed to make restitution;
3:12 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street, a patrol officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to have expired registration, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
4:36 p.m.: breaking and entering, Paper Street, a caller reports her vehicle was broken into, the responding officer reports the woman said that some time since Monday at about 2:30 p.m. her unlocked vehicle parked in her driveway was entered and about $25 in cash was stolen from the vehicle;
6:32 p.m.: animal complaint, Granby Road, a caller reports he took custody of a pit bull dog in Granville, an animal control officer responded to take custody of the dog and transport it the Westfield Animal Shelter;
9:06 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street, a traffic enforcement officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to have expired registration, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard.
