8:04 a.m.: weather complaint, Leaview Drive, a caller reports a tree is on fire, dual response dispatched, the responding officer reports the fire was caused by a lightning strike, the firefighters report there was no fire due to the strike
8:58 a.m.: fire, a caller reports utility wires are burning, the responding firefighters report a branch fell on primary electrical wires due to rain but there is no active fire or immediate hazard, the G&E was notified;
12:26 p.m.: larceny, Pine Street, a resident came to the station to report that a registration plate was stolen from his vehicle, the responding officer reports the complainant said that he discovered his front registration plate was missing while his vehicle was parked in his driveway;
2:06 p.m.: larceny, East Main Street, the manager of an East Main Street drug store reports a shoplifter fled in a described vehicle, the responding officer reports a search for the vehicle was not immediately successful, the officer reports the manager said that she had seen a person believed to have shoplifted in the store previously and observed him place four inkjet cartridges valued at $86.97 in a shopping basket, the manager said when the man appeared to be attempting to leave without paying for the merchandise she accosted him and snatched the shopping basket with the merchandise from his hand, the man fled in the vehicle described, the officer reports the owner of the vehicle could not be immediately contacted, the store’s security video was referred to the detective bureau for further investigation;
5:10 p.m.: larceny, East Main Street, a caller from an East Main Street store reports two male parties fled the store with merchandise, the responding officer reports the caller said that two customers who had been browsing for ten or 15 minutes asked to look at two game systems and then bolted with the merchandise, an employee gave chase but the suspects evaded him, a customer made a tentative identification of the suspects, the case was referred to the detective bureau;
7:28 p.m.: animal complaint, Montgomery Road, the animal control officer reports a subordinate was dispatched to take custody of a stray dog;
10:03 p.m.: animal complaint, North Road, a caller reports striking a cat which his vehicle, the gray and black adult cat is deceased, the carcass was moved to the side of the roadway, the animal control officer was notified.
