June E. Pike

WILBRAHAM – June E. (Taylor) Pike, 101, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2019. A lifelong Springfield resident, June was born in July 1917 to the late Raymond & Johnanna Taylor. She was educated in Springfield schools and worked as a homemaker and as Secretary/Treasurer of Lifeguard Security Systems. She was married for over 63 years to the late Robert W. Pike Sr. and was a devoted wife and mother of two sons. June was a 70+ year Member of Foster Memorial Church, where she was a past Deaconess and member of the Fosterian Group; a Past Matron of Isadore Forbes (Palestine) Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and past Deputy Grand Marshall of the Grand Chapter O.E.S.; member & trainer at E. Longmeadow Dog Obedience Training Club; member of the over 60’s bowling team at Wilbraham Ten Pin; and a poll worker for 45 years. June was driving her own car until after her 100th birthday and living alone until age 101 in the house that she & Bob built 70+ years ago. June was also predeceased by her son Philip and brothers William & Raymond Taylor. She is survived by her son Robert Jr. & wife Julie; 6 grandchildren: Robert Pike III (Amy), Laura Flechsig (Dan), Melissa Wilder (Al), Philip Pike Jr. (Suzanne), Heather Shiflett (Paul) and David Pike; 19 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Foster Memorial Church, 1791 Wilbraham Rd., Springfield, MA 01119 with a private burial. ln lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in June’s memory, to Foster Memorial Church or to Ava’s Gift to June, P.O. Box 43, Waxhaw, NC 28173 – a 501(c)(3) helping families with expenses of childhood cancer.
