Kathleen H. Wright

WRIGHTPITTSFIELD, MA – Kathleen Helen (Maynard) Wright, 80, of 68 Delancy Avenue, Pittsfield, died Friday, May 24, 2013, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Westfield on May 24, 1933, the daughter of Francis and Pauline Adzima Maynard, she was a 1951 graduate of Westfield High School.
Mrs. Wright was a homemaker. In her early years in Pittsfield, she had worked in insurance. Kathleen was an avid quilter. Many of her quilts were displayed at the quilt shows at Berkshire Community College where she had also served as a docent. She was also an avid seamstress who, among other things, made her daughter’s wedding gown. In her granddaughter’s early years, she made a lot of her clothes with a loving touch.
She was a longtime member of the Dalton Community Recreation Association where she participated in the water exercise and volleyball program for over thirty years. She loved the sea and visiting the coastline of Maine at least twice a year. When her children were small, she and her family camped in every province of Canada and most of the contiguous states of the United States. She also liked to garden, as well as knit and crochet.
Mrs. Wright leaves her husband, John C. Wright, whom she married May 30, 1953. She is also survived by a daughter, Lisa A. Coulter and her husband, John M. Coulter of Lee; two sons, Gerard J. Wright and his wife, Margaret, of Lake Zurich, Illinois, and Geoffrey S. White of Kirkland, Washington; a granddaughter, Heather R. Coulter of Somerville, MA of whom Kathleen was very proud of her many accomplishments; and a sister, Theresa Burt of Westfield, as well as a niece and nephews.
Calling hours for Kathleen H. Wright will be held Friday, May 31, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield with prayers to be offered at 7:00 p.m., by Rev. C.J. Waitekus, Pastor of St. Ann Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nature Conservatory in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA.
