WESTFIELD – State Representative candidate Kelly Pease is hoping to make Halloween more fun for city youth.
Pease and his campaign volunteers will host a Drive-Through Trick-or-Treat for Westfield residents Oct. 31 from 5-7:30 p.m. in the Mestek Parking lot on North Elm Street.
“We were thinking about what we could do for Halloween since kids will probably not be trick or treating,” Pease said of the impetus for the event. “We want to offer something fun to do during the COVID social distancing times.”
Although he and his campaign team are hammering out the details now, Pease said the plan is for participants to drive into the parking lot where he will have volunteers helping with traffic flow, to a table decked out in Halloween decorations filled with candy and other treats.
“We want all the kids wearing costumes, and if they want to decorate their cars, that would add to the festivities,” Pease said.
Pease and his volunteers will wear costumes and masks. Pease said social distancing guidelines will be in place and trick-or-treaters will stay inside their vehicles. Pease is seeking candy sponsors and anyone able to volunteer their decorating talents. For more information, contact [email protected].
Pease is the Republican candidate for the seat, facing Democrat Matt Garlo and Independent Ethan Flaherty in the Nov. 3 election.
