WESTFIELD – Leonard R. Horton, 90, (1928 – 2018) passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 24, 2018. He was born in Northampton to the late Raymond and Marion (White) Horton. Len served his country with the United States Army during Korea from 1950-1952, attaining the rank of Corporal. He received the Korean Service Medal with 1 bronze service star, the United States Service Medal and Army of Occupation Medal (Japan). He was a 1946 graduate of Hopkins Academy in Hadley, a 1957 graduate of the University of Vermont with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical engineering and attended AIC. Len was employed as a mechanical engineer for Hamilton Standard and retired in 1987. He enjoyed fishing and his dog, Gus. Len was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Wanda M. (Tabak) Horton in 2016 and by his brother John R. Horton. He is survived by his loving children, Christopher L. Horton of West Springfield, Cynthia J. Polanski and her husband Paul of Michigan, Denise M. Nazarenus and her husband James of E. Granby, CT, Mary W. Byron and her husband James of Groton, CT and Elizabeth A. Daniels of Hadley, MA, his cherished eight grandchildren, Shannon Sacco, Guy Quesnel, Meghan Daniels, Brandon Daniels, Alex Polanski, James Byron, Catherine Byron and Keely Byron and two great grandchildren, Jake Sacco and Mia Sacco. Len’s funeral mass will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 12:15pm in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Rd. Westfield followed by burial with military honors in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Main St. Agawam. Visiting hours will be prior to the Mass from 11-12PM in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA 01085. www.firtionadams.com
