Lester W. Densmore

 

Lester W. Densmore, 86, passed away on October 31, 2018 at Baystate Noble Hospital. He was born in Barre, VT to the late Llewellyn and Ruth (Gladding) Densmore. Les worked as a cabinet maker for over 20 years, after that as a machinist for 8 years, before retiring from the City of Westfield as a custodian for 10 years. He served his country with the United States Air Force from 1951-1955 and attained the rank of Airman 2nd Class.

Lester W. Densmore, was my dad, He was a true craftsman, and characterized by raw determination strengthened by his work ethic. He taught his sons to look for opportunities to learn new skills with a curious mind. The best advice he gave me was: “If something is worth doing, it is worth doing right”. Les is survived by his wife Thanhvan T. (Tong) Densmore of Westfield, his sons, Harry W. Densmore and his wife Senga of Westfield and Jo L. Densmore and his wife Bonnie of Montgomery, MA, his siblings, Betty Coughlin of Westfield, Llewellyn Densmore of Westfield, Lyle Miller of Monson, Floene Young of N. Carolina and Laureen Liberty of Chicopee, five grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Sadly he was predeceased by a son, Mark Densmore in 1977, a daughter Betty Dudas in 2015, two brothers, Loren Densmore and Leon Densmore and two sisters, Lorena McKinstry and Drucylla Masi. His funeral will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 9AM from Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, followed by a Funeral Service at 10AM in Second Congregational Church, 487 Western Ave. Westfield. Burial will follow the church service in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4-7PM in the funeral home.
