Letter to the Editor

The Westfield Woman’s Club celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Club on September 19 with a dinner dance held at the East Mountain Country Club. Over 100 of our members and their guests came to enjoy the festivities for this momentous occasion and to show their appreciation of what the Club does in the Community. Since the establishment of the Club in 1914, members have strived to better the lives of those in need in the greater Westfield community. Our objectives in 1914 were stated as “Being to broaden and strengthen the moral, social and intellectual life of its members and through them make itself a power in the community.” That tradition continues today as our members volunteer their time and talents to local non- profits such as Stanley Park, Noble Hospital, the Food Pantry, The Carson Center, Volunteers In Public Schools, etc.
We were humbled by the outpouring of support for this event as was evidenced by the number of advertisements taken by friends, businesses and other organizations through the Westfield Woman’s Club Foundation in the Westfield News. We thank you and assure you that we will continue to provide services to organizations citywide while maintaining our departments and special interest groups. Our own Westfield Theater Group will continue to produce entertaining shows for the enjoyment of our residents. Our Garden Club will continue to provide their talents landscaping and providing flowers around the City. Our Courtly Quilters will continue to make lap blankets for the infirm citizens of Westfield as well as Women’s shelters, and, our Community Table group will continue to cook and serve at the Food Pantry.
We are especially thankful to the Westfield News for their coverage of our many events. We, the members of the Westfield Woman’s Club, thank you all!!
Sincerely,
The Centennial Celebration Committee
