Letter: Fly the flag properly

To the Editor,
Open letter to my neighbor on the corner of Sackett Road and Whitaker Road:
Whenever I drive past your home and see our flag, upside down and in tatters, I have to ask, “WHY?”
I was raised to respect the flag, without question and under any circumstances.
My father fought in WWII to defend our flag.
My mother came to this country to escape certain death at the hand of the Nazis.
My parents would be shocked and horrified to see what you have done to our flag.
Perhaps you are disappointed with the outcome of our recent presidential election, but that does not justify your defacing our precious flag. Your treatment of our flag is shameful and un-American.
I hope you will reconsider and fly our flag properly.
