Lillian Valois

SOUTHWICK – Lillian “Lil” (Collete) Valois, 89, (1929 – 2019)  died on September 13, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Lil was born on December 31, 1929 in Montreal, Canada to the late Edward and Louise (Herbert) Collette. She attended St. Anthony High School, Bristol Community College and Bridgewater State College where she received her RN. She worked at St. Ann’s Hospital in Fall River, at Norwood Hospital and Westborough State Hospital until she retired in 1982. She was a past member of the Ladies of the Moose and the Happy Squares for 18 years, and the Whaling City Sam’s Camping Organization for 18 years. She loved going on the RV with her husband Maurice and traveled almost the entire US. They were world travelers. Lil loved cook outs by the pool and spending time with her family. She loved to quilt and embroider all designs on jeans and other clothing pieces, and she had many technical machines. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years Maurice H. Sr., and her daughters Collette Kimmel and Denise Valois. She will be deeply missed by her son Maurice H. Valois Jr. and his wife Patricia of Westfield MA; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends. Calling hours are being held from 10-12pm on Thursday September 19, 2019 in the Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick MA. A funeral service will be held at 5:30pm in the funeral home. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford MA will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions made in Collette’s name may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Society, Cancer Research Institute, Web Donation, 29 Broadway, Floor 4, New York, NY 10006-3111, and in Denise’s name to The ALS Association, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 37022 Boone, IA 50037-0022.
