Linda Murphy

WESTFIELD – Linda (Sarafin) Murphy, 79, of Westfield passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer. Born in Northampton, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Priscilla Sarafin of Chesterfield, MA. She was raised on a farm, with her siblings Bonnie (deceased), Paul and Kim and it was there she found her love of horses.

She was a proud graduate of Williamsburg High class of 1963 and received her LPN certification from Smith Vocational School in 1964 when her career as a nurse began. In 1976 Linda received her RN and Associate’s Degree from Holyoke Community College. In 1984 Linda created the Trauma Nurse Specialty Program for Baystate Hospital. She taught many first responders the criticality of the ‘Golden Hour’ in treatment of emergency trauma and Crime Scene Preservation. In 1996 she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, an especially proud moment for her.

While Linda enjoyed horses and excelled at nursing, her grandchildren were the love of her life. She spent countless hours at the rink, at the field and in the audience cheering for their success.

Linda would like to thank the many friends and family that assisted during her illness, with heartfelt gratitude to caregiver Sam Eades.

She leaves behind to honor her memory, her daughter Amber (Moltenbrey) Danahey, son-in-law John Danahey, grandson John Danahey, granddaughter Megan Danahey, and a large and extended family.

Those wishing to celebrate her life may join us at Firtion Adams in Westfield, on Wednesday, July 17th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Westfield YMCA. www.firtionadams.com
