Little League baseball and softball tournament updates

WESTFIELD – As Thursday night’s Little League games were postponed and re-scheduled, it was a great opportunity to look over each Little League division and where the teams and tournament games stand.

7-9-Year-Old Division

Standings

Agawam (2-0)

Belchertown (1-0)

Easthampton (1-0)

Westfield (1-1)

Southampton (0-1)

Longmeadow (0-1)

Gateway (0-2)

 

Current top team Agawam has dominated Gateway 24-0 and took down Longmeadow 15-2. Westfield has split their first two games by being just edged by Easthampton, 14-13 and then regrouped with an 18-8 victory over Gateway. Agawam still has to play Westfield, Easthampton, and Belchertown before pool play is over. Pool play runs until Thursday July 14. The District semifinals would be on Sunday July 17. and the championship game on Tuesday July. 19.

 

9-10-Year-Old Division

Pool Play concluded on July 5th as Belchertown took the top seed in Pool A and Easthampton finished as the team in Pool B. The semifinals are set for Friday July 8. Westfield National will travel to Easthampton for a 6 p.m. contest as Amherst will play at Belchertown also at 6 p.m.

The District Championship will be on Sunday July. 10 with the time and place still yet to be determined.

10-11-Year-Old Division

The championship matchup was already decided on Wednesday night as both Westfield National and Westfield American won their semifinal games. The two city rivals will now face off in the District Championship game on Saturday July 9. at Ralph E. Sanville Field on Cross Street at 6 p.m.

 

11-12-Year-Old Division

Belchertown (2-4)

Due to the postponed game on Thursday night, Westfield American and Westfield National will face off on Friday July. 8 at Ralph E. Sanville Field on Cross Street at 6 p.m. Sunday will be the start of the semifinals with the no.4 seed facing off against the no.1 seed. Following that game, the no. 3 seed will take on the no.2 seed. Monday July 11 will continue double elimination play and go through Friday July 15.

 

Seniors

Westfield was able to advance past the districts by defeating Agawam three out of the four times. Westfield then faced Oxford on July 6. and lost 14-2. Westfield will now play Friday July 8 in Scituate.

9-10 softball
