The highlight though came from Berkshire’s catcher Brodie Grabiec who had a lot of fun playing in the mud and even caught a throw from the pitcher for a force play at the plate.

Expert Fitness 7, Berkshire Industries 0

On a Spring day built for baseball, Berkshire’s bats were quieted by Expert Fitness. Jakob Crepeau & Callum Aieta made it to 3rd base, but were stranded both times.

Audrey pitched almost 3 strong innings before her pitch count grew to 50 pitches. She allowed only 2 runs but struck out 6 and walked 1. She had great control this day and only let the hitters counts reach 3 balls 4 times. Angel pitched well for his debut and while he did allow 2 runs in 1 inning, he was 1 ball away from walking the 3rd run before he resettled himself and struck out the hitter looking. He got the third and final out after inducing a ground ball back to him and a good throw to the first baseman ended the game.

GAME DATE: 5/19/17
Berkshire Industries 11, 99 Restaurant 2

On a scorching July evening in May, Berkshire’s hitters proved patient and their pitchers proved up to the task! Berkshire’s 2 pitchers each went 2 innings a piece but it was Brodie Grabiec with a heads up double play in the 4th: with 1 out Brodie was playing first with bases loaded. The hitter hit a liner that Brodie caught for the out and then touched the base to double up the runner. Berkshire’s first double play!!
Berkshire’s hitters were very patient in the heat and while several kids took walks and scored, Callum Aieta walked on all 3 of his plate appearances but it is his continuous positive attitude of “If you are having fun, you’re already a winner” which is the exact attitude all Farm Players are encouraged to embrace. – Courtesy of Westfield Little League
