Local Branch Chief completes USFWS Leadership Program

WESTFIELD – Bill Porter of Westfield, Realty Branch Chief with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, is among 34 Northeast Region employees to complete the agency’s inaugural Lead Your Life (LYL) leadership certificate program.
The program is designed to foster a culture of leadership within the Service, where every employee, regardless of position, grade, location, or series, has the opportunity to lead. It is part of the Service’s commitment to providing employees with opportunities for personal growth and leadership development.
The agency celebrated those who completed the certificate program during a ceremony held at the Regional Office in Hadley, Mass., Wednesday, March 26.
“Like any skill, training and practice are the foundation to becoming an effective leader” said Porter.
“Everyone can be a leader, regardless of position,” says Sarah Bevilacqua, who coordinates the LYL program for the Service. “To be an effective organization, we need strong leaders throughout all parts of the Fish and Wildlife Service. Clearly, leadership is everyone’s business.”
