Students Named to Champlain College Dean’s List for fall 2015
BURLINGTON, VT – The following students have been named to the Champlain College Dean’s List for achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or higher in the fall 2015 semester.

Eastern Connecticut State University Student Jordan Brock of Westfield named to fall 2015 Dean’s List
WILLIMANTIC, CT – Eastern Connecticut State University recently released its fall 2015 semester Dean’s List for full-time students. Jordan Brock ’19 of Westfield, was named to the Dean’s List. Brock’s major is Pre-Early Childhood Education and Psychology.

Coastal Carolina University announces Dean’s List for fall 2015
CONWAY, SC – Approximately 2,248 students have made the Fall Semester 2015 Dean’s List for academic achievement at Coastal Carolina University.
To qualify for the Dean’s List, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade point average, and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 grade point average. To qualify for the President’s List, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average. All students must be enrolled full time.
They include Amy Hewins of Westfield, a senior majoring in Exercise and Sport Science, and Jennifer Moller of Westfield, an undeclared freshman.

Keats of Westfield named to the Champlain College Trustee’s and President’s lists for the fall 2015 semester.
BURLINGTON, VT – James Keats of Westfield was named to the Champlain College Trustee’s List for the fall 2015 semester. Students on the Trustee’s List have achieved a 4.0 grade point average for two or more consecutive semesters. Keats is majoring in Game Programming. Keats was also named to the Champlain College President’s List for the fall 2015 semester. Students who are named to the President’s List have achieved a semester grade point average of 4.0 or higher. Keats is majoring in Game Programming

To qualify for the dean’s list, Keene State undergraduates must be enrolled in a degree program and must have completed a minimum of six credit hours in the semester, receiving no failing or incomplete grades. Students must achieve a 3.5 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale to earn dean’s list honors.

Local Student Named to Hamilton College Dean’s List
CLINTON N.Y. – Bridget E. Lewis, daughter of Michele and Thomas Lewis of Westfield, has been named to the Dean’s List at Hamilton College for the 2015 fall semester. To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must have carried throughout the semester a course load of four or more graded credits with an
average of 3.5 or above. Lewis, a senior majoring in biology, is a graduate of Westfield High School.

Local Residents Earn Dean’s List Honors for Fall 2015 Semester at Stonehill College
EASTON, MA – The following local residents earned Dean’s List honors for the fall 2015 semester at Stonehill College in Easton, Mass.
Zachary J. McCormick of Westfield, a member of the Class of 2018, is a finance major at the college.
Victoria J. Ware of Chester, a member of the Class of 2016, is a Spanish & Interdisciplinary Studies major at the college.
Patrick Wroth of Westfield, a member of the Class of 2018, is an undeclared major at the college.
To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered.

Steele Named to Dean’s List at Bob Jones University
GREENVILLE, SC – Cassandra Steele, a Sophomore Elementary Education major of Westfield, was among approximately 890 Bob Jones University students named to the Fall 2015 Dean’s List. The Dean’s List recognizes students who earn a 3.00-3.74
GPA.

Hosmer of Westfield named to Dean’s List at Hudson Valley Community College
TROY, NY – Adam Hosmer of Westfield was named to the Fall 2015 Dean’s List at Hudson Valley Community College. Hosmer is studying in the Individual Studies academic program at the Troy, NY college.
The Dean’s List recognizes those full-time students and part-time students registered for at least six college credits who have a term average of 3.00 to less than 3.50 and who received no grade of “D,” “F,” “I,” “Z,” or “W” on their record for that term. Students must have completed at least 12 college credits successfully.

Colby-Sawyer College Names Lund to Dean’s List
NEW LONDON, NH – Colby-Sawyer College has named Kyleigh Lund of Chester, to the Dean’s List for academic achievement. To qualify for the Dean’s List students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours in graded courses. Lund is majoring in Nursing and is a member of the class of 2016.

Local students named to the UVM Dean’s List
BURLINGTON, VT – The following area students have been named to the Fall 2015 dean’s list at the University of Vermont. To be named to the dean’s list, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

Lasell College Announces Dean’s List for fall
NEWTON, MA – Lasell College has released the Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement during the Fall semester of the 2015-16 academic year. A student must be full-time, carrying 12 or more graded credits for the semester with a grade point average of 3.5 or above to receive Dean’s List recognition.
Among the 726 students honored in the fall 2015 semester were:

Lemme of Blandford On Fall Dean’s List at Belmont
NASHVILLE, TN – Anna Lemme of Blandford qualified for the Fall 2015 Dean’s List at Belmont University. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.
Approximately 30 percent of Belmont’s 7,400 students qualified for the Fall 2015 Dean’s List. Belmont Provost Dr. Thomas Burns said, “This achievement for the fall semester indicates that these students have placed a high priority on their work at Belmont and have invested time and energy in their studies. It is our strong belief that consistent application in this manner will reap great benefits, which will equip them for a lifetime of learning and growing.”

Kang of Southwick Completes the Fall 2015 Soccer Team Season at Bard College at Simon’s Rock
GREAT BARRINGTON – Esther Kang, a 15 year old Freshman at Simon’s Rock, was honored at the 2015 Athletic Awards Banquet. Kang, who competed on the 2015 Soccer Team, is the daughter of Kabjoong Kang and Sooyoung Hong.
The annual awards banquet recognized 54 student-athletes who participated on competitive teams in soccer, swimming, and basketball during the fall season. More than twenty awards were distributed to students, including the MVP and Coach’s Award.

Local Eastern Connecticut State University Student Participates in University Club
WILLIMANTIC, CT – Many Eastern Connecticut State University students participate in Eastern’s clubs during the academic year.
Brittany Bronner ’16 of Westfield participated in the Competitive Cheerleading Squad at Eastern Connecticut State University during the fall 2015 semester. Bronner’s major is Business Administration.
Jordan Brock ’19 of Westfield participated in the Best Buddies Club at Eastern Connecticut State University during the fall 2015 semester. Brock’s major is Pre-Early Childhood Education and Psychology.
Eastern students who participate in clubs excel in the classroom and do better academically than students who do not participate. Students participating in clubs had an average GPA of 3.10, much higher than the 2.94 average for students who do not participate in any of the club.
Clubs planned and implemented numerous events for the fall 2015 semester. These programs have a direct impact on the daily life of all students on Eastern’s campus. The programs range from social to educational, physical to spiritual and civic engagement programs, many of which also benefit the local community.

SPRINGFIELD – Ashley Bourque, Bachelor of Arts and Anthony Wong, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, both of Westfield, received degrees from Western New England University on October 15.

Goodwin College President’s List, Summer 2015
EAST HARTFORD, CT – Goodwin College’s President’s List for the summer 2015 session includes Amanda Sullivan of Tolland and Maria Vita of Westfield scored a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Otterback Receives a President’s Scholarship at Keene State College
KEENE, NH — Sarah Otterbeck of Huntington was among 48 first-year students who received a President’s Scholarship this year.
This renewable merit scholarship is awarded annually to incoming freshmen who exhibit academic excellence with a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher and SAT scores of more than 1,800. Fulltime in-state students receive $3,500 annually, and fulltime out-of-state students receive an annual award of $8,000.

Bennett Receives a Dean’s Scholarship at Keene State College
KEENE, NH — Mikayla Bennett of Westfield was among 181 first-year students who received a Dean’s Scholarship this year.
This renewable merit scholarship is awarded annually to incoming freshmen who demonstrate academic excellence with either a high school GPA of 2.5 or greater and a minimum SAT score of more than 1700 or a high school GPA of 2.75 or greater and a minimum SAT score of more than 1600. Fulltime in-state students receive $2,500 annually, and fulltime out-of-state students receive an annual award of $6,000.

 

U.S. Air Force Airman Alexander P. Kareh graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. He is a 2015 graduate of Westfield Vocational Technical Academy.

Hirtle studying abroad at Assumption College’s Rome Campus
WORCESTER – Kaitlyn Hirtle of Russell, a member of the class of 2016, is one of 18 students spending the fall semester abroad at Assumption College’s Rome Campus where the city and country of Italy become a living classroom.

Local Students Inducted into Assumption College Honors Program
WORCESTER, MA – The Assumption College Honors Program inducted 79 new members on Sunday, November 1, before an audience of administrators, faculty and families.
The Honors Program at Assumption College is a demanding, intensive curriculum that seeks to challenge each student to achieve his or her full potential within a supportive community of peers. Regardless of major, the Honors Program empowers students to challenge themselves and explore their passion with similarly motivated students. Students inducted into the Program are encouraged to select courses and projects that reflect their individual interests and to connect their classroom studies with experiences in the community.
The following local students were inducted into the Assumption College Honors Program:

The College reviews a number of criteria of students interested in applying for the Honors Program including standardized test scores; class rank; engagement inside and outside the classroom; demonstrated passion for learning; and grade point average (GPA). Students must maintain a GPA of 3.25 in Honors courses, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25.
