Lost cash returned

WESTFIELD – A Springfield man who lost thousands of dollars while visiting a donut shop in the city has his money back thanks to the honesty of the Good Samaritan who found the envelope stuffed with cash.
City police report that on Sunday afternoon a caller reported that he lost an envelope containing $2,750 and believed that he had dropped it in a rest room at the Main Street Dunkin Donuts location.
Officer Nathan Kantor reports that his investigation found that the store’s security camera showed a man leaving the rest room carrying an envelope and the case was referred to the Detective Bureau for further investigation.
However, before the detectives were able to identify the man seen in the video a woman called police.
She told the dispatcher that she is the care giver for a developmentally disabled man who gave her an envelope with about $2,700 in it which he said he had found in a bathroom at the donut shop the day before.
Officer Michael Bradley went the the man’s home to retrieve the envelope and then called the owner to tell him that it had been recovered.
