Louis T. Fattorini

WESTFIELD – Louis T. Fattorini, 103, Westfield’s oldest WWII veteran, passed away peacefully at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield on Sunday, March 9, 2025. He was born November 6, 1921 in Westfield to Peter and Angelina (Porcile) Fattorini. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Yvette (Bienvenue LaBelle) Fattorini in 2012 after 59 years of marriage.

Louis graduated from Westfield High School and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII from 1942-1945 in New Guinea, Bismarck Archipelago, Southern Philippines, and Luzon. He worked as a machinist at American Bosch in Springfield for 35 years retiring at age 64, playing golf until the age of 98, and driving until almost his 100th birthday. He enjoyed spending time tending to his vegetable garden, grapevines, and fruit trees. Louis loved cooking Italian food and baking as well as making gnocchi with his family, canning tomato sauce, and basil pesto. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Parish and a member of their Men’s Club Card League. He enjoyed candlepin bowling. He loved Westfield history and attending lectures in town and was one of the last remaining people who could recall what Westfield was like in the 1920s. He loved sharing those stories and spending time with his family. Louis loved life and was an inspiration to all of us!

He leaves his sisters Mary Machietto and Roberta Giorgi, and was predeceased by his sisters Anna Fattorini, Vera Willis, and Ceil Perry. Louis will be greatly missed by his children, Janice Gryszkiewicz, Peter (Cathie) Fattorini, and Tina (Brian) Campbell. He was predeceased by daughter Vivian Monfett and sons-in-law Tom Monfett and Pete Gryszkiewicz. He leaves his grandchildren Angela Renaudette, Pamela (Greg) Knowles, Ronald (Kelly) Renaudette, Thomas (Tonya) Monfett, Charles (April) Monfett, David (Rachel) Monfett, Amy (Derek) Almeida, Peter Gryszkiewicz, Anthony (Jenelyn) Fattorini, Lori (Robert) Gramolini, Vincent Fattorini, Dominic (Mikaela) Fattorini, Stephanie Campbell and Marissa Campbell. Great-grandchildren: Chistopher (Juana) Renaudette, James (Meghan) Renaudette, Jena Knowles, Case Renaudette, Troy Renaudette, Thomas, Anna (predeceased) and Nora Monfett, Bradley and Theo Monfett, Claire and Grace Monfett, Ethan and Cameron Almeida, Gabriel, Annabella and Sophia Gramolini, Samantha Fattorini. Great-great-grandchildren: Sebastian and Giovanni Renaudette, Donovan and Dylan Renaudette and Kaison Knowles.

The funeral for Louis will be on Saturday March 15, 2025 at 9:30 AM from Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St. Westfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church at 10:30 AM, with burial to follow at St. Rose de Lima Cemetery in Chicopee.
