Annual luminary event raises funds for Cancer House of Hope

WESTFIELD (WWLP) – Hundreds of luminary bags lined the walkways at the Genesis Life Center in Westfield Monday night.
The annual “Luminaria” event raises funds for the Cancer House of Hope in West Springfield. People buy a luminary bag for five dollars, and dedicate it to a loved one lost to cancer, as well as those who’ve survived it.
All of the money helps fund the free services offered by the Cancer House of Hope.
“Wigs are free there,” said Troy Ladue, a volunteer for the Cancer House of Hope. “If someone who’s gone through having a breast removed due to a breast cancer, they have breast prostheses free as well. Everything is absolutely free, as it should be. But of course, there’s a cost.”
One hundred percent of all donations support the free services of the Cancer House of Hope, which serves 400 cancer patients and their families every year.
