Lydia M. Lapenas

SOUTHWICK – Lydia M. (Myzak) Lapenas, 54, a resident of Southwick for the past 20 years, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at her home. Born in New York City, Lydia had graduated from University of Vermont and received her master’s degree from Elms College.
Lydia was a high school science teacher at Chicopee High School. She was also a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Southwick, and the church choir, a volunteer at the Cancer House of Hope in Westfield, and she enjoyed knitting, reading, cooking, traveling to the beach, taking her dog, Milo, for walks, and spending time with her family and friends. Lydia will always be remembered for her strength, courage, and hopefulness. She managed to stay positive in light of every burden that she was forced to overcome.
Lydia is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Don J. Lapenas; her children, Andy & Kelsey Lapenas of Southwick, and her parents, William and Maria Myzak of Whitehall, NY.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Lydia on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 568 College Highway, Southwick, MA. There are no calling hours. SouthwickForastiere Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
