Madeleine G. Bisson

SOUTHWICK – Madeleine G. (Carrier) Bisson, 87, a former Westfield resident, and wife of over 50 years, to the late Elpheje Bisson, died August 3, 2012. Madeleine and Elpheje were the first couple to take up residence at the American Inn at Sawmill Park, Southwick. Born in Graniteville, Vermont she was the first American-born child to the late Louis and Gracia (Sevigny) Carrier.
Madeleine was a former member of the Westfield Women’s Club, owned and operated the former Curtain Boutique in downtown Westfield and was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary’s Church.
Madeleine was predeceased by a son, Paul Bisson; 3 brothers, Raymond, Armand and Robert Carrier; 2 sisters, Claire Chaloux and Florence Denison. Madeleine is survived by 2 sons, Patrick Bisson of Lowell, MA, Peter Bisson of Westminster, CA; 3 daughters, Susan Bengston of Vail, AZ, Theresa Keller of Chester, VA, Lorna Billings of Coplay, PA; 3 sisters, Theresa Ziter of Enfield, CT, Carmen Johnson of Jonesboro, TN, Cecile Brown of Gardnerville, NV; 2 sisters in law, Dot Carrier of Washington, VT, Lucille Carrier, recently of Barre, VT; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be held on Saturday, August 11, from 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. at Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home, (413)569-5306, 624 College Highway, (Highway 202/10) Southwick. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. with a procession to follow to St. Mary’s Church, Westfield for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield.
