The Madness: ‘Challenge’ renewed

While the hopes and dreams of every contestant crashed along with several NASCAR drivers in our debut Putz’s Ultimate Sports Challenge event, the Daytona 500, optimism bounces back with March Madness.
Beginning Thursday, contestants will have the opportunity to predict the NCAA Division 1 Men’s College Basketball Final Four. Compete for a gift certificate, and the join in the overall points race for our grand prize.
Beat The Putz PictureOne point will be awarded for each correct Final Four team. A bonus point will be awarded for anyone who predicts all four Final Four teams correctly. Any ties will be broken in a random drawing.
No points were awarded in our first Challenge event as not one entrant managed to pick a top three finisher in NASCAR’s biggest race, making this a great opportunity to start anew with March Madness.
All you have to do to get started is fill out one of our contest forms (one entry per person), which will appear daily in The Westfield News sports section beginning Thurs., March 9. Entries must be postmarked by Wed., March 15 at 11:59 p.m., or dropped off at our office located at 62 School Street in Westfield by the close of business day March 15.
Putz’s Ultimate Sports Challenge, which began with the Daytona 500, ends with the PGA Championship in August, and includes the Coca-Cola 600 and Brickyard 400, all four men’s PGA Tour Majors (The Masters, U.S. Open, British Open, PGA Championship), the Triple Crown (Kentucky Derby, The Preakness, Belmont Stakes), and the NCAA Division I men’s basketball Final Four.
Points will be awarded to each contestant following the conclusion of every “Challenge” event.
The Westfield News will publish a weekly leaderboard of our contest’s overall leaders in the points race for the grand prize. The overall points leader following the conclusion of our final “Challenge” event will be deemed our grand prize winner.
Details regarding our grand prize will be revealed in the coming weeks.
