MAR20 SPORTS – Y gymnastics (JPMcK)

On Sunday, the Westfield YMCA Gymnastics Program hosted the
2012 Western League YMCA Gymnastics Championships with over 130 gymnasts
from 5 local YMCAs: the Westfield YMCA, Greenfield YMCA, Farmington Valley
YMCA, Hampshire Regional YMCA and the Keene Family YMCA.

All of the gymnasts performed very well.

The Westfield YMCA’s Level 1s gymnasts had their best meet so far this
season, with 4 gymnast scoring over a 34.0 all arounds. Their top Level 1
All-Around was MacKenzie Crawford with a 36.1. Her teammate, Kenzie Kluiko
scored a 8.9 on vault, placing 4th. Izmary Reyes scored a 9.0 on floor and
9.2 on vault. Gianna Andras placed 3rd all-around with a 34.8. Emily
Salzer scored a 9.0 on bars, 9.2 on floor and 9.3 on vault, placing second
all-around and Olivia Sweeney scored a 8.6 on vault and also placed 5th on
beam and floor.

The Level 2 Team had a great meet, bringing home the 1st Place Level 2 Team
Award and many other top places individually. Contributing to their team
score was Abbey Hutchison who scored a 9.15 on floor and 9.1 on vault;
Nicole Marek placed 2nd all-around and scored a 9.3 on floor and 9.0 on
vault; Brianna Crawford scored a 9.1 on floor and 9.05 on vault and Rylee
Alteiri, placed first on every event and all around in her age group.

The Level 3 Team did very well. Madelyn Powers scored a 8.75 on beam and
an 8.6 on floor and vault. Her teammate Bianca Hiltz score a 9.0 on floor,
placing 2nd and placed 1st with 9.6 on vault. Shannon Worley placed 2nd on
beam with a 9.0 and placed 2nd on vault with a 9.4.

The Level 4 Team also did well, Sierra Moulton scored an 8.95 on vault;
Zoe Oprecht placed 2nd on bars in her age group with an 8.65. Addie Cook
placed 3rd on vault with a 9.15. Heather O’Connor scored a 9.0 on vault,
Lindsey Jacobs placed 1st all-around in her age group as well as first on
floor and second on beam and vault. Megan Hawks placed 1st on bars in her
age group with an 8.7 and also placed 2nd on beam with an 8.6. and Julia
Maryanski placed first on beam with a 9.3, she also placed 3rd on vault
and 3rd all-around.

From the Westfield YMCA’s Level 5 Team, Laura DelMonte placed 2nd on vault
with an 8.55. Avery Farquharson placed 2nd on floor with a 9.1 and 4th on
beam. Isabella Rivera placed 2nd on vault in her age group with an 8.6 and
Sabrina Hawks placed 4th on vault with an 8.25.

Level 6, Miranda Wozniak placed 1st on beam, 2nd on bars and 3rd
all-around. Her teammate, Tai’le Oprecht placed 1st on bars and floor and
2nd on vault and all-around.

The Level 7 Team placed 2nd as a Team and also did very well individually.
Sophia Carellas placed first on floor with an 9.1 and Alyssa Carson placed
2nd on beam and all-around with a 33.95.

The Level 8 Team took home the 1st Place Team Award. Contributing Level
8s, Kendall Neidig placed 2nd on beam and 1st on vault with an 8.7, Sammy
Dame placed 1st on beam and bars and placed 3rd on floor with a 9.1 and
3rd all-around. Taryn Hamel placed 1st on floor with a 9.45 and also
placed 1st all-around with a 34.15.

The Prep-Optional Team had a great showing, Hannah Liquori placed first on
floor and all-around. Her teammate Samantha Grimsley placed 2nd on floor
with an 8.6. Anna Grady placed first on bars, vault and floor, scoring an
8.6.

The Westfield YMCA Gymnastics program is currently running their Spring
Session, there are still spaces available! Registration has begun at the
YMCA for their two Summer Gymnastics Camps.
