Marguerite A. Vail

Westfield – Marguerite (Peggy) A. Vail, 81,  passed quietly on April 6th. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon K. Vail on April 6th, 1997 sharing 42 years of marriage.

Born in Florence, MA, she was the daughter of James and Beatrice (LaPlante) Slattery. Peggy graduated from Westfield High School, went on to nursing school working at Western Mass Hospital, Noble Hospital, and Mediplex of East Longmeadow retiring in 1998 from a profession she loved.  A communicant of Blessed Sacrament church she enjoyed traveling, her Canadian family, spoiling her grandchildren and her beloved friends “the Fab Four”. Their antics and stories will be told for many years to come.

Along with her creative sense of humor and love of a good practical joke she leaves a son Michael (Laura) Vail and family of Southampton, daughter Jill (William) Clark and family of Westfield and Karen (Michael) McEachern and family of Canton,Ma.

Five incredible granddaughters whom she adored and two great grandchildren. She also leaves life long friends Irene and Bill Curran of Vero Beach, FL. and special nieces Suzanne Tash and Aimee McCarthy both of Lincoln, Me and Jackie Sullivan of Westfield. She leaves her brother William Slattery of Texas and is predeceased by her brother James Slattery of New York.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Westfield Gardens for the compassion and care she received for the last years of her life.

Jill would personally like to thank all the hens and gal pals for making a long journey much easier when you have a little help from your friends.

Services for Peggy will be private and at the  convenience of the family.
