Marion Grace (Whelan) Pion

WESTFIELD – Marion Grace (Whelan) Pion, 95, of Westfield, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 30th, 2024.

Marion was born to Marion and William Whelan in Springfield, MA on February 20th, 1928.  After graduating from Cathedral High School in 1946, she went on to Gaugh Business School, became a Legal Secretary, and worked for a prestigious law firm in Springfield until 1952.

Marion married the love of her life, Bob Pion, on September 30th, 1950 and they shared a beautiful married life together for sixty-five years until Bob passed away in November of 2015. Marion was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Bob, a loving mother to her three children, Dot, Don, and Barb, and an adoring grandmother to four grandsons and five great-grandchildren.  Marion was simply an amazing mom who was always there for her family who meant the world to her.

Marion will be remembered by all who knew her as a devout Catholic and woman of tremendous faith. She was a kind and compassionate woman who always made it a point to express her gratitude, especially to the individuals who cared for her over the past several years. Our family is immensely grateful to the Armbrook Village staff for providing loving care and support.

Marion was predeceased by her parents, William and Marion, her husband, Bob, and her sister, Dorothy Wormell. She is survived by her three children, Dorothy Tesini, Donald Pion (Kathy), and Barbara Salkow (Greg), her four grandsons Daniel Tesini (Carolyn), Robert Pion (Rosa), Thomas Pion (Kathleen), and Joshua Kirk (Melanie), and her five great-grandchildren Lila, Anthony, Isabella, Joseph, and Makenzie. The funeral and burial were private.
