Marion P. Hardy

WHITINSVILLE, MA: Marion P. (Breen) Hardy died Friday June 10, 2016 in Whitinsville, MA. She was born in Marshfield, VT on September 24, 1919 to John F. and Ella B. (Bullock) Breen. Marion lived in the Hartford, CT area before moving to West Suffield, CT and to Southwick, MA in 1940 and then to Tolland in 1944. Marion lived in Westfield form 1985 – 2008. She attended the University of MA, and was a graduate of Springfield School of Business. Marion was a confidential assistant to the former Gladys Rugg Estates of Simsbury, CT. She was the secretary for the Town of Tolland’s Tax Collector for twelve years, a twenty year secretary to the Tolland Ladies Aid Society of which she was a honorary member. Marion was a secretary/bookkeeper in the Trucking Company owned by her Husband Wendell V. Hardy. She had benevolence for the needy and shared her services with many and was a member of the Southwick Congregational Church.  Marion is survived by a son Gordon Hardie of Springfield and a daughter Shirley (Hardy) Mellenand her husband Richard of Uxbridge, six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one brother Ernest N. Rogers of Laconia, NH, and several nieces and nephews serving in many parts of the world. She was predeceased by her Husband Wendell V. Hardy in 1981, a son composer –musician Richard W. Hardy in 1957 and a grandson Michael R. Mellen in 2011. The funeral will be held on Monday morning June 13that 11 am in the Southwick Congregational Church. Burial will be in Tolland Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service 76 Broad St. Westfield.
