HOLYOKE – Marion Pauline (Hynes) Prokop, age 88, of Holyoke, formerly of Westfield, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at the Holyoke Geriatric Center. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late John and Pauline (Hartling) Hynes and was a 1941 graduate of Holyoke High School.
She had lived in the coastal area of Lordship in Stratford, CT for many years and was employed as a Finance Clerk at Chesebrough Ponds in Trumbull, CT until her retirement in 1987.
Marion was the widow of Louis P. Prokop who died in 1990. She is survived by five children; Edward L. Prokop of Stratford, CT, Mary Lou Roman and her husband Edward of Westfield, James S. Prokop of Northport, FL, Thomas P. Prokop of Milford, CT, and Polly A. Redmond and her husband Thomas of Torrington, CT; ten Grandchildren; Leah Beattie, Adam Prokop, Erica Kelly, Jennifer Roman, Thomas Prokop, Jr., Christine Kotucek, Sean Redmond, Brian Redmond, Kevin Redmond and Stephen Prokop, and one great-grandson, Nikolas Kotucek; one brother, Jack Hynes and his wife Janet of Englewood, FL; and a sister-in-law, Ann Hynes of Longmeadow. Marion was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kelly Redmond and a brother, Robert Hynes.
The Funeral will be held Monday morning on January 7, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Cross Church, 23 Sycamore Street at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Jerome Cemetery, all in Holyoke. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday, January 6th from 2:00-5:00 p.m.
