WESTFIELD – Mark M. Placzek, 66, (1952- 2019) passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Westfield to the late Edward and Rose (Popkiewicz) Placzek and was a 1970 graduate of Westfield Vocational High School. Mark worked as a machinist for over 37 years for Berkshire Industries in Westfield and retired from Mountain View Machine and Fabrication in Easthampton. Mark was truly a “Jack of all trades” and mastered them all, he built a custom log cabin in Townsend, VT, remodeled and added on to his home and worked on his cars with his extremely talented gifted hands. Mark was a perfectionist and attended to every fine detail in everything he did, he also had an affinity for learning new things, and no challenge was too big. He was a fly fishing enthusiast, catching many a rainbow trout and enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots. Mark is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Jean D. (Remillard) Placzek of Westfield, his two loving sons, Ronn W. Placzek and his wife Dawn of Charlotte, NC and David M. Placzek and his wife Steph of Belchertown, his sister, Janice R. Hilt of Westfield, his brother Edward G. Placzek of Southwick, his niece Jessica K. Remillard of Chicopee, and his nephew, Scott R. Hilt of Marlborough, MA. A Funeral Service for Mark will be held on Thursday, February 21, at 11AM in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA 01085. Burial will be held in the spring. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 20th from 4-7PM in the funeral home.
