CHICOPEE, MA — Mary A. Costello, 80, (1935-2016) of Chicopee, MA, died peacefully Monday, August 8, 2016, surrounded by her family at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. She was born in Westfield, MA, to the late Frederick and Alicia (Mickle) Costello. Mary’s employment history included work at Hamilton Standard, Amherst College, and Hampshire College. The highlight of her career was serving as the Administrative Assistant to the President at Hampshire College. She was an avid reader, a passionate Red Sox fan, and a devoted sister and aunt. “Mamie” especially loved spoiling her beloved grandnephews Josh and Jack. She also enjoyed collecting Santa Clauses and celebrating her Irish heritage. Mary is survived by her two sisters Joan Weisse of Hingham, MA, and Patricia Reynolds of Westfield, MA. She is also survived by her nephew Edward Dias of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; her nephew Robert Dias of Chelmsford, MA; her niece Carrie (Dias) Hagwell and her husband Stephen of Clifton Park, NY, and sons Jordy, Josh and Jack; her nephew Thomas Reynolds of Southwick, MA, and children Heather, Kevin and Kirk; her nephew Michael Reynolds of Westfield, MA; her niece Susan (Reynolds) Crawford and her husband Brian of Westfield, MA, and sons David, Jeffrey and Scott; her niece Kathy (Weisse) Sheehan and her husband Peter of Marshfield, MA, and sons Patrick and Joseph; her nephew John Weisse and his wife Robin of Sykesville, MD, and children Sean, Heather Walsh and her husband Patrick, and Sarah Featherstone and her husband Reid; her nephew Bill Weisse and his wife Ann of Wilson, NC, and daughters Kristin and Amy; and her nephew David Weisse and his wife Terrie of Fort Myers, FL, and children Kellie and Ryan. Mary is predeceased by her sister Barbara (Costello) Dias of Windsor, CT; her brothers Charles and James Costello of Westfield, MA; her stepfather Oscar Gorham, of Westfield, MA; her brother-in-law Walter Weisse of East Longmeadow, MA; and her brother-in-law Eugene Reynolds of Westfield, MA. Visitation will be at the Robert E. Cusack Funeral Home, 94 Main Street, Westfield, MA, on Saturday, August 13 from 9-10 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary’s Church, 30 Bartlett Street, Westfield, MA, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Southampton Road.
