Montgomery – Mary Ellen (Kellogg) Purdy, 64, (1952-2016) of Montgomery passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. 
Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves her children Arthur W. Purdy, Jr. And his wife Kelly of West Springfield, and Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Purdy of Concord, New Hampshire, a son-in-law, Michael Vlacich, and two grandchildren, Katherine and Abigail, also of Concord, New Hampshire. Besides her children, she leaves her brothers and sisters: Chester Kellogg and his wife Susan of Southampton, Patricia Sampson of Westfield, Arthur Kellogg of Westfield and Eileen Hopp of Seattle, WA. Mary also leaves her brother-in-law Benjamin Purdy and his wife Pat of Westfield, Bruce Purdy of Westfield, Craig Purdy and his wife Ruth of Westfield, and sister-in-laws Donna Kannel and her husband Tim of Virginia, Eileen Minelli and her husband Jack of Westfield, Faye Wysocki of Springfield, Gayle Valencia of Virginia, Holly Beckwith and her husband Dan of Blandford, as well as many nieces and nephews.She is pre-deceased by her husband of 45 years, Arthur W. Purdy, her parents, Chester and Mary Kellogg, her sister Christine Kellogg of Florida and Janet Orlandi of Westfield.Mary had a gift for cooking, and enjoyed sharing that gift with her family and friends. She was particularly known for her famous rice pilaf and could be counted on bringing the dish to every family gathering. She also shared her cooking with the community, through jobs in the kitchens of Noble Hospital and J.C. Penny Cafe. Mary also spent time cooking at Points East Restaurant, but will be remembered for her years out front as a hostess, greeting all her customers with her bright smile!Her funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:30 A.M. In the Firtion Adams Funeral Home, Westfield, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Road, Westfield. A visiting hour will precede the service from 9-10:30A.M. In the funeral home.
