Mary H. Bagge

Longmeadow—Mary Helena (Welch) Bagge, 91, (1923-2014)  passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. She was born on May 26, 1923 in Springfield MA, the daughter of the late William and Ellen (Brown) Welch and Hannah (Fitzgerald) Welch.   She was a graduate of Cathedral High School, and worked at the Hampden County Registry of Deeds. She will be remembered by all for her quick wit, generous hospitality, and especially for her strong family values of love and loyalty. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alfred “Pete” Bagge and her sister, Kathleen McMahon. She is survived by her sons, William Bagge and his wife, Joanne of East Longmeadow, Carl Bagge and his wife, Deborah of Westfield, and Robert Bagge and his wife, Paula of Longmeadow; her daughters, Patricia Harmon and her husband, William of Southwick and Joanne Tinervia of Gloucester; her grandchildren, Brenda LeDuc, Karen Parker, John Parker, Heidi Colonna, Jason Bagge, Mary Bagge, Michael Bagge , David Bagge, Angelina Gambaro, Derek Bagge, Katie Boyd, Ethan Hersman, Tara O’Keefe, Jeffrey Bagge; and her 10 great-grandchildren. Calling hours for Mary will be held on Sunday, December 14th from 3-6PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow. A funeral service will be on Monday, December 15th beginning at the funeral home at 8:45AM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Michael’s Church, 128 Maple Street, East Longmeadow. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
