WESTFIELD – Mary Teresa Edgerton, 90, passed away on November 20, 2019 at Governor’s Center in Westfield. She was born in Westfield to the late Clifford L. Edgerton and Mary J. Edgerton (Mahar). She is survived by her beloved brother Clifford J. Edgerton, loving niece Susanne Edgerton and husband John Withington of Sunnyvale CA, niece Melissa Stanton of Keyport New Jersey, nephew David Edgerton and wife Carole Bernstein of Ottawa Ontario Canada. She also leaves her cherished grandniece and nephew Eileen Edgerton and Daniel Edgerton and great niece and nephew Madelyn and Johnathan. She will be fondly remembered by her neighbors on Highland Ave, where she lived most of her life in the house that her father built, and at Armbrook Village, where she most recently lived. A graduate of St. Mary’s in Westfield and Northampton Commercial College, Mary retired from Mass Mutual in Springfield after 42 years. She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips to Europe and Hawaii, was an enthusiastic film and theater buff, taking her nieces by train to NYC to see many Broadway shows and enjoyed Stanley park, walking or riding her bike or attending many of their concerts. She was a great friend and supporter of the Catholic Church and St. Mary’s, regularly volunteering her time there. She lived life to the fullest, had many dear friends and was known for her wit, generous nature, and optimism. She was like a ray of sunshine to all who met her.
Many thanks to all of Mary’s nurses, aides, and caregivers.
