West Springfield – Matthew Harry Saltus passsed away on October 28, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. He was born in Kittery, ME on January 9, 1954 to Louis and Caroline Saltus. He attended Westfield Schools and worked for the Westfield Sanitation Department. He married Theresa Sniffin of Westfield and then spent 20 years in Hawaii with his family. Matthew walked to the beat of a different drummer. He was a gifted musician and many friends enjoyed the music he played with best friend, Tom Placzek.
Matthew was predeceased by parent Louis and Caroline Saltus and sister Sharon Hallett of Westfield. He is survived by his son Matthew Saltus of Chicopee and daughter Nalani Saltus and graddaughter, Nicole, of Hilo, HI, beloved companion Michele LaBranche of West Springfield, brother Louis Saltus of Westfield, sister Linda Lewis of Mt. Vernon, WA, sister Nan Moses of Merritt Island, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of his life will be held at a time to be announced.
