Michael F. Premny

WESTFIELD – Michael F. Premny, (January 12th, 1936-March 22nd, 2024). Mike (Mr. Mike) passed away peacefully on March 22nd, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. Mike was born in Hartford CT and raised in Westfield MA, the son of Mildred and Michael M. Premny.

After graduating from St. Mary’s High School, he joined the army and served 4 years. After his honorable discharge Mike returned to Westfield and joined the family excavation business. Mike met and married his wife of 55 years, Lynn in 1959, and together they raised four children. After the sudden passing of his father, Mike went to work for the Penn Station Railroad. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on and restoring automobiles which led him to his next venture with Sarat Ford where he honed his craft and eventually opened his own shop “Mr. Mike’s Auto Body.” Mike and Lynn spent many summers on the Cape with family and friends enjoying the Brewster beaches. Mike will be remembered for his witty sayings and keen sense of humor.

Mike was predeceased by his wife Lynn and leaves behind his four children, Mike Premny (Justin Li), Suzanne Premny, Amy Nelson (Steve Nelson) and Kimberly Premny (Kate Roche). He also leaves behind two grandchildren Paige DeFilippo (Devan) and Dana Nelson, and one great-grandchild Eleanor Lynn DeFilippo.

The family would like to thank the Highland Valley Elder Services, Baystate Medical Home Nurses and the Palliative and Hospice nursing staff of the 4th floor at Brigham and Women’s Hospital for the wonderful and loving care Mike received.

Calling hours for Mike will be held on Saturday, April 20th from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield with a celebration of life to follow at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made online @ www.bwhgiving.org or checks payable to Bringham Women’s hospital with “ In Memory of Michael F.
