Michael Julius Morrissey (Juli)

WESTFIELD – Michael Julius Morrissey (Juli). Born prematurely in Springfield, MA to the late William and Adele (Juknevicz) Morrissey, he grew to become a man of great stature with a heart of gold – always lending helpful assistance and expertise as a “Mr. Fix It”, to family and friends alike.

A graduate of Westfield Vocational High School, Class of 1970, Mike went on to work for New England Telephone, Bell Atlantic, and Nynex, (now Verizon) for 32 years as a cable and fiber optic splicer – proudly purchasing his 1858 homestead after his first year in the phone company.

In retirement, Mike enjoyed working as a mechanic and gasman for Quarterley Racing, and ran property and electrical maintenance and seed germination, “The Seed Man”, at Meadowview Farms. He spent his time cultivating a personal garden at home – as well as honing his golf skills, attending hockey games (Go Bruins and Springfield Thunderbirds!) and relaxing with a Bob Ross tutorial.

He was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman, both hunting and fishing as an active member of the Lake George Sportsman’s Club – and loved running his trusted companion Emerald at the Northampton – Russel Beagle Club and beyond.

Spending time with his grandchildren, introducing them to his love of the great outdoors and finer details of mechanics always made him light up and smile – teaching his grandson Clive to drive on the farm, learning to weld, and watching his band perform; and listening to his granddaughter Von act and sing and taking great pride in her academic dedication gave him great joy.

Michael is survived by his wife of 40 years Maryalyce Pearce Morrissey of Westfield, daughter Koryn (Morrissey) Schermer (Realf Schermer) and his grandchildren Cleveland (Clive) James and Von Margaux – known to them as their “Juli”.

He is survived by his three brothers, William (Deb), Patrick (Christine) and Timothy (Brenda) Morrissey and several nieces and nephews.

Receiving hour will begin at 10 a.m. and will proceed the funeral mass at Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament on Friday, March 21st, 2025, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name are welcome at the following organizations: Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament Parish, 127 Holyoke Road, Westfield, MA and the Westfield Voke (Westfield Technical Academy, Electrical Wiring, 33 Smith Avenue, Westfield, MA) Firtionadams.com
