Mohegan Sun, Suffolk Downs partner on casino

BOB SALSBERG, Associated Press
BOSTON (AP) — Mohegan Sun is back in the Massachusetts casino competition.
Suffolk Downs announced Wednesday that it had chosen Mohegan Sun to help develop and operate a proposed casino on the portion of the horse track’s property in Revere.
The announcement comes the day after a recount in Palmer confirmed the defeat of Mohegan Sun’s plan for a resort casino in the western Massachusetts town.
Suffolk Downs cut ties with its initial development partner, Caesars Entertainment, after concerns raised in a background check by the state gambling commission.
Mohegan Sun has already received a favorable suitability ruling from the commission.
Suffolk Downs is attempting to shift its proposed casino entirely to Revere after East Boston voters rejected the plan. The commission must still rule on whether the change can be made.
