WESTFIELD – Neil A. Hansen, 65, passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital on November 19, 2013. He resided in Westfield, MA and in prior years lived in Holyoke, MA.Neil graduated from Westfield High School, Class of 1966 and attended STCC. Until his retirement in 2007, he worked for the Massachusetts Highway Department as a Civil Engineer. Neil was an avid Patriots fan and loved music and playing his guitar.
Neil was the son of the late Neils and Madelyn (Duffy) Hansen. He is survived by his beloved wife of twenty years, Cheryl (Jablonski) Hansen; his cherished daughter, Julie Lambros and son-in-law Lars Lambros and his much loved granddaughters, Bella and Sophia Lambros. He leaves his sister, Karen Faivre of Cape Cod; his aunts, Virginia McCarthy of Westfield and Shirley Hansen of Blandford, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves his special buddies, Frank Popkiewicz, Rick Jablonski, and Gary Sico. Neil was predeceased by his sister, Lynne Pierce. Neil will be sadly missed by his in-law family, Jeanne Jablonski, Richard and Sandy Jablonski, Patricia Fila and her partner Parker Brown, Joanne, Greg, Andy and Janna Liptak, Rick, Beth, Richard, Lauren, Madelyn Jablonski, Christina Baker and his Goddaughter Rachael Jablonski.
The funeral will be held on Friday, November 22nd at 11:00 a.m. from the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield with burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home on Friday will precede the service from 9:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m.
Donations in Neil’s memory may be made to the Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, Westfield, MA 01085 where their dog, Rigby was adopted into their home.
