Monday, Nov. 18, 2013
9:32 a.m.: larceny, Park Square Town Houses, 140 Union St., a resident came to the station to report that her medication was stolen from her apartment, the responding officer reports the complainant identified two persons who visited her during the time frame when the medication was removed;
9:47 a.m.: larceny, Church Street, a caller reports her headphones have been stolen, the responding officer reports the complainant said that a homeless man she allowed to stay at her residence for a time had expressed interest in her headphones previously and left her home early on the day she discovered her head phones missing;
9:49 a.m.: larceny, Birch Bluff Drive, a resident reports via the online reporting option that a new mat he purchased for the bed of his pickup truck was stolen from his truck and he found one which appeared to be the same listed for sale in the city on a website, the complainant said that the seller declined to identify his exact location;
10:01 a.m.: animal complaint, Elm Street, the animal control officer reports that she was notified that the owner of a quarantined dog has not been with the dog for days which is injured and needs medical attention, the ACO reports she took custody of the dog and transported it to the municipal animal shelter;
10:35 a.m.: identity fraud, West School Street, a resident reports via the online reporting option that he discovered fraudulent charges totaling more than $500 on his credit card account, the man said that he contacted the credit card company who agreed to cancel the charges but requires he report the larceny to police;
3:01 p.m.: found property, Pleasant Street, a resident came to the station to surrender a wallet she reports finding on Pleasant Street, the responding officer reports that the wallet contains cash and gift cards, the officer was unable to immediately contact the owner and the wallet was stored for safe keeping;
4:33 p.m.: found property, Woodmont Street, a caller reports a bicycle was left on his lawn since he left for work in the morning, the responding officer reports the bike was transported to the station for safe keeping;
5:59 p.m.: disturbance, Butternut Road, an officer responding to an abandoned 911 call reports that the adult son of the household is intoxicated and out of control, the responding officer reports the subject was advised to stay away from his family and he went into his bedroom, the officer advised the man’s family to call if he again creates a disturbance, a family member called again at 7:08 p.m. to report that the man was again creating a disturbance they cannot cope with, the man was placed in protective custody;
8:09 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Lewis Street, a caller reports her former husband is intoxicated and just left her residence in a motor vehicle, officers were advised to be on the lookout for the car and an officer saw it operating without headlights, the vehicle was stopped, the operator appeared to be intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test, Christopher J. Houle, 46, of 7 Lewis St., was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor and for negligent operation of a motor vehicle;
9:04 p.m.: officer wanted, Edgewood Apartments, 134 Union St., a Springfield resident came to the station to complain that her sister-in-law is in possession of her vehicle and won’t return it, the responding officer reports the woman was found at her home and surrendered the keys to the vehicle without incident, the officer reports the owner took possession of the car;
9:09 p.m.: assist other agency, Westfield State University, 577 Western Ave., WSU police request the use of a cell for Chazmine M. Lee, 20, of 32 B Everton Ave., Worcester, who had been arrested by WSU police for two charges of assault and battery on a police officer and a charge of disorderly conduct, a cell monitor was provided;

12:28 a.m.: disturbance, Hillside Road, a caller requests assistance with a problem she appeared to be reluctant to specify but the dispatcher determined that a male party had been injured in a fight with another man, the responding officer reports he was flagged down by a man standing over another man with a bloody face, the injured man said that he had received a text message from his on-again/off-again girlfriend and went to her home to speak with her, the man said that he knocked on her window but a man exited her home with a baseball bat and assaulted him striking his leg with the bat and proceeding to punch his face repeatedly, the other man said that when he went outside he had not known who was at the house and admitted punching the man, he said he threw the bat away to ensure the other man could not use it, the injured man was transported to Noble Hospital, the officer reports criminal complaints for assault and battery were filed against each man and the one who allegedly used a bat was also charged with assault and batter with a dangerous weapon;
1:20 a.m.: assault, Meadow Street, a caller reports a person said that he was assaulted by a known party, dual response dispatched, the responding officer reports the victim said that a known person punched him in the stomach because he was unable to immediately return property he had borrowed from him, the victim was adamant that no charges be filed, the victim was transported to Noble Hospital for treatment;
2:33 a.m.: disturbance, Main Street, a caller reports he was assaulted by a person using brass knuckles, the responding officer reports the caller said that he heard his daughter in an altercation with a male visitor and when he investigated the visitor punched him and subsequently punched another male party present before he fled without a shirt, after the responding police left the man returned but fled again when the resident again called police, the man was found attempting entry at another address associated with an acquaintance, Jonathan Savard, 21, of no fixed address in Westfield, was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship, assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, vandalizing property and possession of a Class E drug, police were advised that Savard had consumed a handful of sleeping pills and he was transported to Noble Hospital for treatment;
9:03 a.m.: assault, Elm Street, a caller reports he was assaulted by a known party, the responding officer reports the caller declined to cooperate and had called the domestic violence advocate first who was also present, the victim was advised to call police if he decides to cooperate;
10:58 a.m.: suspicious persons, East Main Street, a caller from an East Main Street store called to report that two persons who are believed to have previously stolen an employee’s cell phone are again in the store, the responding officer reports the store manager explained that the hitherto unreported theft was recorded on the store’s security video, the officer interviewed the suspects, a criminal complaint was filed;
5:30 p.m.: officer wanted, East Main Street, a caller requests an officer to discuss a larceny which has been investigated by company officials, the responding officer reports he spoke with a loss control employee who reported that an employee has been stealing cash for a period of months, Jason A. Orenstein, 36, of 23 Holland Ave., was arrested for larceny of property valued more than $250 by a single scheme;
5:57 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Southampton Road, a patrol officer reports a routine check of the registration of a vehicle seen operating on Southampton Road revealed that the owner’s license had been suspended, the vehicle was stopped and the operator was found to be the owner, Tyler J. Fish, 20, of 25 Leonard Ave., was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
6:04 p.m.: suspicious activity, Lewis Street, a caller reports hearing noises in her cellar as if somebody is there, the responding officer reports a relative was found in the cellar who was obviously so intoxicated that he required medical attention, the man was transported to Noble Hospital for treatment, a resident said that the man had entered her apartment and had stolen a bottle of liquor, a criminal complaint was filed;
8:02 p.m.: accident Shaker Road, a caller reports a vehicle is off the road and on its side but nobody is injured, the responding officer reports two operators said that a vehicle following another passed the lead vehicle but made contact with the vehicle being passed sufficient to cause the operator of the passing vehicle to lose control and go down a gully and the vehicle rolled on to its side at the bottom.
