New animal control operations manager selected

WESTFIELD- The Westfield Police Commission Dec. 17 voted unanimously to hire Margaret Terkelsen to be the next operations manager for the Westfield Regional Animal Shelter and Animal Control.

Terkelsen will be filling a currently vacant position at the shelter. Former Operations Manager Lori Charette’s contract ran out on Nov. 5 and was not renewed.

Terkelsen was chosen after an interview by the Westfield Police Commission. The commission also interviewed Christian Salamon for the position, but chose Terkelsen because she has more supervisory experience.

Terkelsen is also not a new face to the Animal Shelter, she once served as assistant operations manager there and currently a public safety dispatcher in Westfield.

In her interview, Terkelsen said that she has budgetary experience from her role as assistant operations manager. She also has five years of experience in animal control.
