New restaurant coming to former Brew Too

SOUTHWICK – The town will soon have another dining option when the former Brew Too re-opens as D’Georgio’s.
Property owner Diane Arnold and executive chef Georgio Karathanasopoulos met with the Southwick Board of Selectmen this week for approval of a change in ownership and management at the business on Feeding Hills Road.
Attorney Frank Caruso represented the business partners and said they planned to operate from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, which received positive reaction from selectmen Russell Fox and Joseph Deedy, as well as neighbors of the business.
“I love hearing it will be a restaurant, not a bar, since it’s in a residential neighborhood,” said Deedy.
“It doesn’t belong as a bar,” said Karathanasopoulos.
In the past, the Brew Too came under fire from the board and neighbors for loud music, late night crowds, and noisy bike nights. Arnold and Karathanasopoulos assured everyone that would not be the case.
“This will be a family-friendly restaurant,” said Arnold. “I want to bring it back to life.”
The outdoor deck would be available for dining but any entertainment would be held indoors only. Caruso said Arnold was seeking permission to have live acoustic music and comedians that would be entertainment “appropriate for dinner.”
Karathanasopoulos said the noise would not be an issue.
“I assure you it will be no problem,” he said. “I’m a man of my word.”
Arnold has plans to renovate the entire space and create a serving station at the bar, which would shorten the bar space by approximately six stools.
“You’ll be surprised,” she said. “It’s going to be beautiful.”
Karathanasopoulos is well-known in town for his chef skills and was the original owner of Village Pizza. Once the liquor license transfer is approved in Boston, renovations will begin, said Arnold, adding she expects construction to take five or six weeks.
