Westfield Youth Hockey Association players show support for breast cancer awarenss
WESTFIELD – The Westfield Youth Hockey Association took some time out last month to help promote awareness of Breast Cancer during the month of October in a very creative way. Taking the lead from some of the pink equipment and apparel exhibited by many professional athletes, all WYHA skaters used pink tape on their hockey sticks for the month of October to honor of the brave women and their families who have been touched by Breast Cancer.
A youth hockey scholarship, valued at $750, was also made available by an anonymous donor. The scholarship will be made available to skaters and families from our organization impacted by breast cancer in any way. Multiple scholarships may be awarded pending response. If you are interested in inquiring more about the scholarship, please reach out to WYHA President, Paul Labbe, at [email protected].
The association is encouraging its membership, its fellow GSL associations, and the local Westfield community to make donations to the National Breast Cancer Foundation at http://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/How-To-Help/Donate-Online.aspx.
