12:04 a.m.: disturbance, Washington Street, a residential advisor at a Westfield State University housing facility reports persons who are drinking alcohol and loitering in common areas refuse to leave, the responding officers report about 200 people were dispersed from the building, one male party was found to be younger than the legal drinking age while in possession of liquor and a city ordinance violation citation was issued;
11:20 a.m.: suspicious activity, Crown Street, a caller reports an adult man is buying cigarettes for children, the responding officer reports he spoke with a 23-year-old man who denied the allegation, a 15-year-old girl said that she does not smoke and was only holding the man’s cigarettes for him, both were advised of the potential consequences of buying cigarettes for minors;
12:45 p.m.: vandalism, King Street, a community policing officer reports he was notified by a resident that a Halloween decoration was stolen form his porch about 3:30 a.m. and he found pieces in the street and the remains at the rear entry of a neighboring residence, the CP officer reports he spoke with the college aged tenants of the residence where parts of the item were found and they denied knowledge of the vandalism but nonetheless offered restitution, the victim was satisfied and does not wish to pursue criminal charges, the tenants were provided a packet of information distributed to academic tenants and advised on how to be better neighbors;
3:47 p.m.: disturbance, Southwick Road, a caller reports that during an argument with her son he threatened to harm himself with a knife, the responding officer reports the woman said that during the argument her son stated poking her so she fled to her bedroom and her son followed brandishing a knife and threatening to injure himself, the woman said when she first attempted to call police her son took her phone, Joshua James Palmer, 20, of 99 Southwick Road, was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship, assault with a dangerous weapon and intimidating a witness;
5:06 p.m.: harassment, Columbus Apartments, 97 Elm St., a resident came to the station to complain of threatening texts messages received from a former girlfriend, the responding officer reports the man was advised of the procedure to secure a harassment prevention order;
7:51 p.m.: harassment, Miller Street, a caller reports she had been getting harassing phone calls, the responding officer reports the woman said that a caller has made threats to her, the officer reports the suspect caller appears to be a scammer working the “Jamaican” scam trying to intimidate the complainant;

12:22 a.m.: alarm, Union Street, an alarm company reports multiple alarms from a Union Street convenience store, see story in the Tuesday edition of The Westfield News;
1:29 a.m.; vandalism, Colonial Pine Acres, 50 Southampton Road, multiple callers report a person slashed the tires of a parked vehicle, the responding officer reports the suspect was found in the area and a routine check revealed him to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, Jeremiah J. Eastman, 30, of 48 Mosher St., Holyoke, was arrested on the warrant;
7:59 a.m.: accident, City View Boulevard at Granville Road, a caller reports an accident involving a fire hydrant which is now spraying water, the officer reports that no injuries were reported by the vehicle operator, the city’s water department was notified and dispatched a crew;
8:05 a.m.: disturbance, Powder Mill Village, 126 Union St., a caller reports that a known person barged into her apartment when her children opened the door to let the dog out, the responding officer reports the suspect had left prior to his arrival, the caller called again at 10:03 a.m. to report that all four tires on her vehicle had been slashed;
11:57 a.m.: harassment, King Street, the defendant of a harassment prevention order came to the station to complain that the plaintiff of the order keeps calling her and sending her text messages, the officer reports he spoke with the plaintiff about the complaint;
4:55 p.m.: fire, Granville Road, a caller reports a branch is on fire, the responding firefighters report a G&E crew responded to deal with the matter;
6:59 p.m.: assist citizen, Main Street, a deputy fire chief reports he assisted a citizen who had locked herself out of her vehicle;
9:02 p.m.: accident, North Elm Street, multiple callers report an accident, the responding officer reports the crash occurred when one northbound vehicle struck another northbound vehicle on North Elm Street while passing, the operator of the passed vehicle was transported to Noble Hospital where he was treated and released, the offending operator fled the scene on foot but was found on Franklin Street, Alodie A. Vega-Miranda, 29, of 21 Beckwith Ave., was arrested for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a number plate violation to conceal identification.
