WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – One person is recovering in the hospital after a fire destroyed a home in Westfield early this morning.
Westfield Deputy Fire Chief Patrick Kane said that the fire started around 1 a.m. at 23 Family Lane. He says firefighters were met with intense flames coming from the front of the home and through the roof.
It took crews about 45 minutes to put out the flames and one person had to be rescued from the rear kitchen. The victim was taken to Noble Hospital with unknown injuries.
The State Fire Marshall was called in to investigate what caused the fire. Dept. Chief Kane says it’s difficult to know what started that fire due to the amount of damage to the home.
