SOUTH DEERFIELD – The Southwick boys basketball team rallied from a 24-21 halftime deficit to pull off a thrilling 43-40 opening night victory on the road Monday at Frontier.
Dan Scharmann led Southwick with 17 points, Hunter Iglesias pumped in 11, and Connor Roy made a key lay-up with 10 seconds left to give the Rams a 3-point cushion.
Frontier missed a game-tying 3 at the buzzer, and Southwick snuck away with the win.
“It was really a team effort defensively,” Southwick coach Dylan Dubuc said. “We turned them over a lot and we were able to get stops down the stretch.”
