Westfield—Residents are invited to a panel discussion titled “Keeping Our Children Safe” this week.
The panel, which is being brought to Westfield by the Westfield Youth Coalition and Westfield Community Outreach, will discuss the risks that youth face in the community. It will take place Thursday, Dec. 15, at 6 p.m., at the Westfield’s Women’s Club at 28 Court St.
Public participation is encouraged by the presenters, but those who want to have questions addressed during the panel are urged to send the questions to [email protected] in advance of the event.
The panel will include members from the BHN Carson Center, Westfield Police and School Departments, the Department of Children and Families and the US Attorney’s Office.
In addition to topics submitted by attendees, the panel will also discuss cyber risks and Internet safety, risks specific to the community, as well as hidden risks that parents or caregivers may not be aware of.
Sarah Camerota, LICSW and coordinator for the Westfield Youth Coalition, said in a press release that the “topics to be covered are important for our parent community to be aware of. This may not be our only discussion, but the first in a series. The event is open to everyone, especially guardians of children.”
