Patricia F. Slayton

WESTFIELD; Patricia F. (Greenwood) Slayton, 74 of Westfield, Mass., passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 28, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.  Born February 6, 1941 in Hartford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Ruth G. (Torrant) Daniels of Agawam and the sister of the late JoAnn G. Silvernail of Agawam and the beloved wife of the late Elbridge Levi Slayton. Patricia graduated from Suffield High School in 1959.  On June 3, 1961, she married the love of her life, Elbridge L. Slayton of Bloomfield, CT and was married for 31 years before Al’s untimely passing in 1992.  A resident of Westfield for more than 54 years, Patricia worked at Westfield High School and later on as a Medical Assistant for Dr. Centenno and Dr. Angco with her final position being a Library Aide for the Southwick Library. Patricia was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother who’s favorite pastime was spending time with her family.  An avid reader, Patricia loved a good book and a good cup of coffee.  She was also a tremendous cook who enjoyed the theatre and social outings with her daughter.Patricia leaves her three children, son Mark E. Slayton and his wife, Erica of Blandford, MA, son Brian C. Slayton and Missy LaPointe of Russell, MA, daughter, Jody L. Slayton and Christopher Consedine of Agawam, MA, her beloved grandson, Ryan L. Slayton of Agawam, MA, her four-legged best friend and constant companion, Gizmo, and numerous treasured relatives and many cherished and dear friends.  Her spirit lives on within us and will burn strong in our hearts forever.  You are deeply missed.  We love you! The family would like to thank the many caregivers that cared for Pat both at home and at Westfield Genesis Center, as well as Noble Visiting Nurse and Hospice and Highland Valley Elder Services.A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 9:30 AM at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA.  Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
