Paul Gallo

WESTFIELD – Paul Gallo passed away on March 3, 2023 of health complications at the age of 68. Paul, better known by all as “Peeg”, was born on October 24, 1954 to Marie (Fitzgerald) Gallo and Paul Gallo, Jr. He is survived by his siblings Lynn Savage (Paul), Kay Gogol (Dave), Stephen Gallo (JoAnn) and Joann Laplante. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Christine Hatton and brother, David Gallo.

Following in the steps of his father’s greatness was not an easy task. However, Peeg took it head on and left his own trail of achievements until a severe life-changing knee injury took him out of the game. Peeg was an exceptional athlete, beginning his career on the Westfield YMCA swim team. He held New England records in butterfly for 20 plus years before they were broken. Additional sports included playing little league baseball and then going on to football and basketball before graduating from Westfield High.

Growing up in our family, he was a fun-loving brother who loved to play pranks on his younger sisters, Chrissy and Kay. Never a dull moment with sleepovers in the Gallo household! His charismatic, fun-loving personality gave way to playing hard and living hard. Always ending up on the sidelines of life.

Despite the diversity of challenges he faced after high school, he carried on and found himself out West, spending time in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah. Though he grew up in Westfield, his happiest times during his adult life were his adventures in the “Wild West” where his ashes will be laid to rest in the mountains of Wyoming.

A celebration of Peeg’s life will be held in the Spring. Please come with stories to share! Firtionadams.com
