WESTFIELD – Paul P. Wellspeak, 83, of Westfield, passed away on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017. Paul was born in Russell, MA, one of 5 children to the late Lawrence and Eva (Mattoon) Wellspeak. He was raised in Westfield MA and attended local schools graduating from Westfield Vocational school in 1951. He served his country in the Army and was honorably discharged in March of 1963. He was a machinist for most of his life eventually retiring from Digital Equipment Corporation. Paul loved to spend time with his family and extended family and at all parties or events, hoping at some time a card game would break out. He loved playing cards, especially pitch. He also loved fishing. He was a huge NY Yankees and NY Giants fan as well. Paul was married to his wife and life partner, Ceceila, for 32 years before she passed away in January of 2009. He was also predeceased by a son, William ( Billy ) in 1976, his parents and two brothers, Ronnie and Frank. Paul was a parishioner of the 2nd Congregational Church in Westfield, where he served as an usher for 50 years. He is survived by 4 children, Paul Jr. and his wife Mary, Cheryl Zdebski and her husband John, John and his wife Rachel and Joseph. Also he leaves 8 grandchildren, Paul III and his wife Abby, Michael, Christopher, Christine, Stephanie, John, Jaymes and Cameron. He is also survived by his only great grandson, Paul IV ( PJ ), his brother Larry and his wife Ghislaine, his sister Linda Hoffman and her husband Gary and many nieces and nephews. Paul enjoyed his every Wednesday lunch at Bernie’s Depot in in Chicopee with his friends, Jim Cassidy and will meet the others, Frank Connors, Ernie Blair and Paul’s brother Frank in heaven. Calling hours will be from 10 am to 12 noon on Friday December 22nd at Firtion-Adams funeral home of Westfield, 76 Broad Street with a service to directly follow. Rites of Committal with Military honors will follow at the Veterans Cemetery in Agawam, 1390 Main Street.
