WESTFIELD – Peter C. Slater, 77, passed away at Westfield Gardens Nursing Home. He was born in Westfield to the late Everett and Ida (Katalina) Slater. Peter served his country in the United States Army from 1964-1966 during Vietnam. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and playing hockey. He used to race cars at Lebanon Speedway for many years. Peter was employed by Columbia Manufacturing and retired from the Highway Department for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Ronald Slater and is survived by a brother Gerald Slater of Westfield, a sister Mary Corliss and her husband Thomas of Westfield, his two nieces Colleen and Ellen, a nephew Kevin, his great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours for Peter will be held on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023 from 12-1 p.m. in the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA followed by a Celebration of Life at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial with Military honors will follow the service in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA.
