WESTFIELD: Philip “Phil” Joseph Berry, a former installer and manager for New England Telephone who retired from NYNEX and owner of TTC Technologies, died of complications from a stroke on March 7, 2016 at the Holyoke Soldier’s Home. He was 85.
Phil was born December 23, 1930 in Hudson Falls, NY and raised in Southwick, MA. He was a 1949 graduate of Westfield High School and served 4 years in the Marine Corp during the Korean conflict. Phil enjoyed reading, travelling annually to Aruba and Las Vegas, being outdoors in his yard, antique cars, and tinkering with all things electronic.
Devoted son to the late Patrick and Viola (Peters) Berry. His first child, David Peter Berry, predeceased him. Phil leaves his wife of more than 60 years, Jane Frances (Hogan). Phil was a wonderful father to Lynn and her husband Philip Canterbury, Joanne and her husband Timothy Black, Patrick and his wife Mimi and Daniel and his wife Susan; loving grandfather (“Pop”) to Andrew and Stephen Canterbury, Christina Reed-Touchette, Nicholas and Nathan Black, Maura and Courtney Berry, and Damion and Jason Berry; caring brother to Carol Durand and sister-in-laws Anita Botticello and Betty Oleksak. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Firtion Adams Funeral Home at 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA 01085 from 4 – 7 pm on Friday, March 11th. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 12th at 10 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Road, Westfield, MA 01085.
