WESTFIELD- Philip M. Garde, 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, Sunday, May 17, 2015. He was born and raised in the Six Corners of Springfield to the late Frank P. and Marie E. (Santarsiero) Garde, he attended local school and was a 1949 graduate of Cathedral High School. Philip was employed by H.P. Hood and the Westfield School Department, retiring as Senior Custodian 20 years ago. He also worked for Family Medicine part time for the past 34 years. Philip was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in Westfield, was an experienced woodworker and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. Philip leaves his first wife, Lucille N. (Bouchard) Garde of Agawam, was predeceased by his second wife Elaine E. (Larson) Garde on June 20, 2012, leaves his children, Susan T. Bisnette and her husband Mark of Leland, N.C., Michael Garde and his wife Andrea of Springfield, Alan C. Garde and his wife Doreen of Southwick, Richard P. Garde of Wilbraham, Paul Garde and his wife Norma of Springfield, Thomas F. Garde of Springfield, and Sandra St. Germain and her husband Daniel of Springfield, his step children, Harold A. Phelps, David L. Phelps and his wife Veronica and Scott L. Phelps all of Westfield and Tracey A. St. Jean of Texas, his brother Frank P. Garde of Belchertown and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. His funeral will be held on Thursday meeting directly at 10AM in St. Peter’s/ St. Casmir’s Church, State St. Westfield, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Rd. Westfield. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 PM in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA 01085.
